31 Days: Gratitude for Celebrations

Whether for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries or achievements, it's wonderful that we have developed ways to celebrate together.

It allows us to pause from the routines and busy-ness
of daily living so that we can give the honor of our attention...

to one another
to the rhythms of life
to the blessings of life.

Many of you take on the task of preparing these events.
Sometimes we find ourselves in that hectic, busy flow of preparations.

When it starts to feel stressful,
I invite you to this simple 1-minute practice:

Pause and take a breath.
Relax your shoulders.
Just for this minute
let go of all the externals of the celebration...
And instead, bring to mind
the blessing you are preparing to acknowledge.

Breathe.

That is all.

You will notice you feel lighter when your attention is on the core of what really matters. And you now as you approach the task at hand, you do it with the true spirit of celebration in your heart.

....

I am grateful for the blessings that come with the rhythm of each season of the year...
with each season of life.

I am thankful for the opportunity to share the acknowledgement and gratitude of these occasions with those I love.

I allow that gratitude to flow in to my preparations for the celebration, knowing that perfection doesn't lie in externals,
but rather within the heart.

How deeply might your life be enriched
after practicing 31 Days of Gratitude?

Again, a beautiful reminder about what to be thankful for. It really is easy to stress over the details and forget the reasons!
