In celebration of I Gotta Create's birthday {hooray!}, here's the "Party Hat Tutorial" for making beautifully colorful party hats!
These are the supplies you'll need. 12x12 paper or card stock is perfect for making these hats.
These sorts of paper / cardstock packs offer a beautiful, coordinating variety of prints that make for a fun assortment of hats! You'll have plenty left over to make other party supplies, too.
Here's how to make Party Hats: 1) take the top two corners of your 12x12 sheet and bring the points together. This automatically forms a cone. 2) It's easiest to hold that cone in this manner to hot glue the seam. 3) Run adhesive or hot glue down the seam. Carefully overlap and press together. 4) You'll have a leftover 'tail,' so draw a line using the short side of the cone as a guide.
Choose a colorful, coordinating elastic strap to hold the Party Hat on your head. Punch out two reinforcing circles.
Glue the reinforcing circles to the inside of the hat, and paper punch a hole through both the reinforcer and party hat. {If making paper party hats, you can reinforce the rim at this point. I didn't find it necessary, but it may depend on the age of your party-goers. wink!} String the elastic strap through and knot it on the inside. Repeat on the opposite side.
The trim and pom poms are made from plastic bags! Cut a strip in whatever width you desire and fringe the edges.
Adhere the fringe to the outside rim of the party hat with hot glue. Run dots of glue around 1/2 the rim, and count to 3 before carefully placing the plastic trim. This will allow the glue to cool just slightly so it doesn't melt the plastic. Finish other 1/2.
You'll find the Pom Pom Tutorial *Here* for topping off your party hats with a flair!
