How to Make Stylish, Sassy Aprons

Aprons are an iconic housekeeping accessory. They make great gifts for bridal showers, hostess and house warmings, Mothers Day and more. 

When I put a saucy twist on these cheeky aprons, comments and emails came forth asking me how to DIY. So... I give you the tutorial!

You can just alter ready-made aprons for a quick and saucy project. Or, you can sew your own, like I did for my snarky Thanksgiving Apron.

Either way, you'll want to gather up lace, ribbon...

...fun trims, buttons, silk flowers, patches of colorful fabric, and...

For printing the images and quotes, I use June Tailor's colorfast fabric sheets for ink jet printers. {more info here}

Find images to fit the theme or holiday for your apron. {see resources on my sidebar. }

Use a program like word, pagemaker, or what-have-you to layer your desired image and quote. 

For some reason, my apron quotes tend to be sassy. {See the Coffee Apron *here*}

Probably because I have such an affinity for cooking and cleaning.

Once you've got your design, simply load a colorfast fabric sheet into your inkjet printer, and print as you would on a piece of paper. To make your printed fabric washable, follow the directions on the June Tailor package.

Arrange the elements on the apron in a way that pleases you and sew! Alternatively, if you're altering a ready-made apron, you could use fusible webbing to iron on the various elements and forgo the sewing.

Embellish your apron with a silk flower pin. 

Here's a tutorial for making a silk flower into a pin. Your flower will be removable for washing.
