Star Spangled Straw Caddy {DiY}

You're never going to believe how you can make your very own spectacular Star Spangled Straw Caddy for next to nothing with items you may already have around the house.

Whether you have a cookout, potluck, or other party planned...

...you gotta have somethin' for those cool beverages on hot summer days.

This Patriotic Straw Caddy started out as a Pringles can Firecracker! And that is how it will look on your table, counter or buffet. I have the firecracker tutorial for you *here.*

But right now we're going to take that fabulous little firecracker one unexpected step further, and turn it into a decorative, patriotic straw caddy! 

In the firecracker tutorial I show you how to finish off the top with a wooden skewer to make the fuse. For the straw caddy we use that skewer, and...  

...poke it through the bottom half of a plastic water bottle. Simply find a bottle that fits inside the Pringles can and use kitchen scissors to cut it in half. Then, when you've run the skewer through the center, add a glob of hot glue on the underneath side so that the skewer is secured to the bottle.

Fill the bottle bottom with straws and drop it down into the {Pringles} Firecracker. Now when you pull up on the 'fuse'... 

...your straw is easy to grab!

Looks great all summer long!

To make it much easier to pull the straw caddy up, I notched out the Pringles can lid. This way, it's not too grabby, but it does close.

Very snazzy and patriotic for just the price of a napkin, an empty Pringles can, an empty water bottle, and a wooden skewer! {by the way, save those water bottle tops for THIS project}
