bumper crop of pears with us this season.
We love pears.
Plain
and
cooked up fancy.
So I whipped up some Pear Butter
to slather on our
toast, waffles, ice cream…
Most recipes out there call for
something like 7 pounds of pears!
Here's a simple, small-batch recipe
you can leave in your mini crockpot all day
and enjoy for the next few weeks.
Here is how to make
Crockpot Pear Butter for Two:
and place in a sauce pan.
Add 2 Tablespoons of water.
Bring to a boil for 15 minutes until
pears are tender.
While pears are boiling,
Place the following ingredients in
a mini crockpot:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
Remove pears from stove top.
Use blender or mixer and mix until semi-smooth -
not puree but not too lumpy.
Transfer to crockpot and stir
until all ingredients are mixed well.
Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
Leave on low for 8 hours until
reduced down to a "butter" that can hold it's shape.
I left the crockpot lid slightly askew
to allow steam to escape.
Cool and place in a recycled jar
or a mason jar.
or a mason jar.
Refrigerate.
