They're soft, sometimes cuddly, always eager to greet us, ever open to play, and loyal, loving companions.
Our pets.
Even science tells us the positive effect they have on our health.
If you've had a great day, their greeting makes it even better.
If you've had a bummer of a day, they can cajole you into better spirits...
or just lovingly cozy up to you.
I love greeting, petting, and lavishing praises on them every morning. Then pouring their bowl of food while my water is boiling for tea.
I love when they snuggle next to me when typing away on my computer or while watching a movie.
I love how they show wild pleasure at being out in the yard together ~ dashing about, chasing leaves, running up trees.
I love giving them affection before going to bed at night.
I am grateful for the positive flow of feelings generated in the interaction between me and my pets.
I'm thankful for the small but significant responsibility of caring for these little bundles of fur!

I want to hear about your pets and what brings YOU joy:
I wish I could adopt all the pets that don't get this kind of loving so they feel what it is like. My pets are treated like my kids.
ReplyDeletePets are awesome :D I've always had cats, but a couple of years ago my sister ended up with rabbits...so now the house is filled with five cats and two rabbits! It's a full house, but happy :D
ReplyDeleteMy puppy isn't really mine--I'm a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind. I'll miss him when he's gone, but I feel good knowing that he will bless the life of a blind person, and I'm enjoying seeing him grow from a wiggly bundle of puppy to a big, well-behaved young dog.
ReplyDeleteYou are speaking to my heart again! A pet is a wonderful thing and I love that my dogs have always loved me unconditionally. Seems like such a huge thing to me and I am certainly grateful for it! Thanks for the reminder and I'm giving Finn and extra treat tonight!
ReplyDeletePets are amazing. Our cat Sara means the world to us. If you get a chance read about the miracle we witnessed with her about two weeks ago. http://diybydesign.blogspot.com/2012/10/i-witnessed-miracle.html
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I recently adopted a 5 year old dog. She's a genuine "muttagree". A mix of maltese, poodle, and only the one above knows what else. She has become the joy of our lives since she joined our family. We love our Sophie! And hope to continue spoiling her for a long time to come.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine living without pets. We adopted a Tabby cat, Claire, about 5 years ago from the Humane Society and she is so funny. She is a picky eater, when loves flaming-hot Cheetos. When she hears my husband open the bag, she comes running. Then two years ago we rescued Marina, a Dachshund who was 9 years old at the time. She is the best dog we have ever had. When anyone comes to the house, she immediately rolls over on her back and waits for you to pet her. She could that for hours. They bring so much joy into our lives.
ReplyDeleteI love dogs and have especially enjoyed our dogs we adopted from the pound. Don't you want to know their story of how they were found, and how they came to find you? It will always be a mystery, but we are grateful it had a happy ending!
ReplyDeleteFound you through the Six Sisters link party.
Thanks!
Oh how I love this!! We used to foster dogs for the Humane Society. We ended up adopting 2 of them! They are by far the best dogs ever!! Thanks so much for linking up this sweet story at Creatively Tuesdays at The Rustic Pig. Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteHi Christina! Would you believe I have pet chickens? True story.

The Chicken Chick
Hey Christina my cat "Zippo" is not my pet but my companion when I am alone at home. When my husband had travelled to India for a month it was just me and my cat. It’s been three years he is a part of our family.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine a life without an animal companion. Both cats and both dogs are rescues and give us unconditional love and companionship.
ReplyDeleteNice post! I love cats, too! Actually one of my cats looks exactly the same as your black and white cat, but only younger (she is only five months old). I really couldn't live without cats.
ReplyDeleteLiz
God made me a sucker and He uses that to his full advantage, lol! Right now I have 4 dogs, 5 cats, 4 aquatic turtles and 1 parrot. Three of the cats and one puppy came to us in the past 10 months. The puppy is "disabled", she has a neurological disorder. She showed up in the front yard as we were leaving to go to a funeral. Oh, and we had one kitten for a day, he was really sick and died the next day (the day before my kids' grandfather died, the one whose funeral we were going to!) Only one of the dogs was adopted "on purpose", two years ago, and I have never sought to adopt a cat. I am just a magnet......and I love them all!!!
ReplyDeleteI share your sentiments about pets and love all animals. Wish the world respected them more, but for those of us who do, we are blessed with their boundless joy!
ReplyDeleteAw, I love this post!
ReplyDeleteI adore my fur kids. They are incredible little creatures!
Unconditional love at it's finest.
Thanks for sharing this at the All Star Block Party!
