...you gotta have somethin' for those cool beverages on hot summer days.
This Patriotic Straw Caddy started out as a Pringles can Firecracker! And that is how it will look on your table, counter or buffet. I have the firecracker tutorial for you *here.*
Plus….
But right now we're going to take that fabulous little firecracker one unexpected step further, and turn it into a decorative, patriotic straw caddy!
In the firecracker tutorial I show you how to finish off the top with a wooden skewer to make the fuse. For the straw caddy we use that skewer, and...
...poke it through the bottom half of a plastic water bottle. Simply find a bottle that fits inside the Pringles can and use kitchen scissors to cut it in half. Then, when you've run the skewer through the center, add a glob of hot glue on the underneath side so that the skewer is secured to the bottle.
...your straw is easy to grab!
Looks great all summer long!
Very snazzy and patriotic for just the price of a napkin, an empty Pringles can, an empty water bottle, and a wooden skewer! {by the way, save those water bottle tops for THIS project}

In the olden days I was a girlscout leader and always tried to come up with crafts that the family wouldn't mind having and not toss in the drawer. Where were you then?

Cool idea. I think I will slide a ribbon or a string through the bottle in the bottom, secure to a washer and make the string long enough to allow the top room to open - thread through the top and secure with a washer. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and useful repurposing of that pringles can! I would love for you to share this at the {what's shakin' link party}!!

I tried to post this earlier, but I'm not sure where it went! LOL
ReplyDeleteVery clever.
Fourth of July always makes me think of the times we got to spend together at Granny & Grandad's. He would let us all have a turn cranking the ice cream maker to go on Granny's fresh cherry pie. Then the fireworks in the back yard. Awesome childhood memories!
